For all those ailing in the world,
Until their every sickness has been healed,
May I myself become for them
The doctor, nurse, the medicine itself.

May a rain of food and drink descend
To clear away the pain of thirst
and hunger
And during the aeon of famine,
May I myself change into food and drink.

For the sake of accomplishing
The welfare of all sentient beings,
I freely give up my body, enjoyments
And all my virtues of the three times.

Shantideva, Sec. VIII
